Instructions for connecting to the Computer Science Department mail service.

Important: Connections are accepted exclusively over SSL/TLS. Unencrypted connections (ports 143, 25, 110) are not permitted.
Username: Using the full address (
username@csd.uoc.gr) is recommended. For backwards compatibility with older configurations, plain usernames are also accepted — for students these have the formcsdxxxxfor undergraduates andcsdpxxxxfor postgraduates.

If Outlook prompts for a username again, enter the full email address.
Any client supporting IMAP/SMTP works with the same details:

Besides email clients, you can read your mail from a browser at https://webmail.csd.uoc.gr, using the same credentials (email address or plain username + directory service password).
Filters are managed exclusively through the webmail interface. Filters run on the server, so they apply across all your devices regardless of whether your browser or client is open.

Destination folders must exist before you create the filter (Settings → Folders → +).
Filter order matters: they run top to bottom and can be reordered by dragging. If a filter includes the Stop evaluating rules action, subsequent filters are skipped.
Useful when testing: Filter disabled keeps a filter saved without executing it. The Actions menu also lets you export/import filters or edit the filter set source directly.
"Invalid username or password"
Make sure you are using your full email address as the username and your directory service password, not an older one.
Messages won't send, but incoming mail works
SMTP requires authentication. Check that the outgoing server has your username and password filled in and that the port is 465 with SSL/TLS.
The client suggests ports 143 / 25 / 110
Ignore the auto-configuration suggestions and enter 993 / 465 manually. Unencrypted ports are disabled.
Certificate warning
This should not occur. If it does, do not accept it and contact the system administrators — also verify that the server name is spelled correctly (mailhost.csd.uoc.gr).
Repeated failed login attempts
Repeated failures may lead to a temporary block of your IP address. Correct the password on all your devices (phone, laptop) before trying again.
For issues not resolved by the above, contact the Department's system administrators.
